The Faerie Queen (May be a bit long, but you can always excerpt what you like)
Shakespere's "Midsummer Night's Dream", which should get you a good laugh if you perform Puck's speech, "My Mistress (the fairy queen Titania) lov'd an Ass". It details how the fairy queen was tricked into loving an actor who had been transformed into a donkey as a cruel joke played by her husband in response to an argument. There are some other good speeches too but you'll have to seek them out.

You might also try to look for an anthology of fairy tale poetry edited by Wolfgang Meider - I think that the title is _Disenchantments_. It has a nice breadth, going from Yeats to Sexton, if I remember correctly. Also, if you're allowed to pick any poem whatsoever that concerns fairies, as opposed to a "classic" (some of these will likely achieve that exalted status with the passage of time, if there's any justice), you might also check the Coffee House section of the Endicott Studio website. Good luck!

Terri Windling has an article about fairy tales in poetry. It might
be of interest and help you with your interpretation.
