The Singing Bone
To those of you who conversed back in February about "what fairy tale character would you be". We got off on the tangent of the story of "The Two Sisters" and the folk songs "Cruel Sister" by Pentangle and "Bonny Swans" by Lorena McKennit. The songs are about an elder sister who drowns her younger sister. Her bones are found and made into a harp. The harp magically plays on its own and reveals the girls killer.
I have found a Grimms tale called "The Singing Bone" which is quite similar. It's about a brother who kills his brother and buries him under a bridge. A shepherd finds his bones and makes a flute. The flute begins to play on its own and tells the tale of his murder.
