Question - Meg Knucklebones
:0
Hello, I am currently teaching a course on character and object design and have assigned a character known as Meg Knucklebones (name is from the Ridley Scott film "Legend") to a student and for the life of me I cannot remember the actual celtic/irish/welsh/scottish name for this character. Sometimes Meg is part of the name but I do believe she is considered a member of the Merrow folk, but lives in lakes and feasts on human flesh. Does anyone know the proper name as I want to the student to research the character and not draw the information from the film.
Cheers

Re: Question - Meg Knucklebones
I think the creature you're looking for is variously known as Jenny or Ginny Greenteeth, or Peg Powler. She's a water creature who drags children under, drowns, and eats them. I believe the character of Meg Knucklebones (Mucklebones?) is based on her.
See Katherine Brigg's ENCYCLOPEDIA OF FAIRIES for a more complete listing.
