earliest illustrations
Hi again! I have been doing alot of interesting reading and reasearch on early through contemporary fairy tales for my thesis (fairy tale illustration throughout history). I have pretty much got my outline laid out and am working on the beginning drafts. I am beginning with a short history of fairy tales and their artwork and it's a little difficult to find references on the art. Most of what I can find begins in the 18th or 19th century, for obvious reasons. I know there are earlier examples of art out there but I'm not sure where to look. The internet only takes you so far. Anyone have a direction of a library, database, or perhaps some key words to search online? I would love to find some examples of Il Pentamerone, Yeh-shen, and Arabian Nights illustrations in their earliest forms.
Thanks,
Tisha
