Swan Maidens
Sometime in February I plan to add a Swan Maidens section to SurLaLune. I keep receiving questions about it and thought I would build an area for it. I am concentrating on the Swan Maiden tales, AT-400*, but will include Swan Lake and Quest for Lost Bride tales.
For now, any recommendations for articles, modern interpretations, tales, etc. are quite welcome as I build, build, build.
I will also be including articles in this section since I have found several that are out of copyright, including:
The Swan-Maidens
by Sabine Baring-Gould
Werewolves and Swan-Maidens
by John Fiske
Swan Maidens
by Edwin Sidney Hartland
You can preview the very much under construction area at:

Re: Swan Maidens
I'm not sure if you consider this valid or not...but there is a manga (Japanese graphic novel) by Watase Yuu called "Ayashi no Ceres" or "Ceres: Celestial Legend." This series is a modern interpretation of the many different versions of the "swan maiden" tales. It's actually really interesting, because the author talks about how she researched the different versions of the story...I believe she said that she found 60+ in Japan alone. That, of course, is in addition, to the many other variations from other parts of the world. ^_^
