Looking for the name of a fairy tale
Hi,
I'm looking for the name of fairy tale that I read in an anthology book along time ago.
The tale is about a man who finds a beautiful maiden in the river he lives near. Although she never speaks the man is overcome by her beauty and takes her for his wife. The maiden becomes unhappy for being stolen from her home and only drinks water in the man's house. She becomes with child and on the night she has the child it begins to storm. The child she bears isn't human at all and the man is horrified by this. The storm causes the river to flood and break down the dam by the man's house. The raging waters destroy the man's house along with him in it. In the end the water is said to be singing as it gently flows over the man's bones since the maiden was freed.
If anyone can help me name the tale or know the book its from I would greatly appreciate it!
