Discussing new books (from Colleen's question)
Welcome Colleen and our other new users!

Under another topic Colleen asked about discussing new books. I thought I would address it here so that the answer will be easier to find.

Although we have no official rules, what we usually do is start a new topic with the title of the book and wait for a consensus to discuss it from everyone or at least a majority. That way spoilers are only available under the topic heading and everyone has fair warning. Of course, the spoilers often serve to get more people to read the book instead of feel disappointed in learning too much too soon.

We haven't had a focused book discussion in a while, so anyone who is interested please feel free to propose one!

Philip Pullman?
People have mentioned the "His Dark Materials" trilogy on a couple other threads -- how about that, if anyone's interested?

"Beast"
Or, althernatively, Donna Jo Napoli's "Beast", which many also seem to have read or are planning to read.

Spindle's End
Did we ever end up dicsussing this book? I can't remember. I just read DeLint's "Trader" last night. What a wonderful piece! Anybody else read it. Sorry -- I don't know how old it is.
