Shakespeare's Storybook
Shakespeare's Storybook: Folk Tales That Inspired the Bard
by Patrick Ryan

Has anyone seen a review copy of this book yet? I would love to get on Barefoot Books mailing list; they are putting together some strong tale collections.

I saw a review for this in Publisher's Weekly and it caught my eye. It contains information about nine of Shakespeare's plays, including Romeo and Juliet, King Lear, and Hamlet. The review mentions comparing King Lear with Cap-O-Rushes and Cinderella. It is ages 8+, so I imagine it isn't overly detailed, but it might make a great introduction to some of the plays and/or folk tales for middle reader children and older.

Haven't seen a review of this yet, but I'll keep my eyes open for it. If it's any good, I'll certainly want a copy. Laura Mc

Heidi: Try asking Mardelle and Richard Kunz (who run the Endicott Studio web site) about Barefoot Books . They managed to get on the Barefoot Books review list for our Year's Best volumes, and they might have contact info. E-mail address: endicottstudio@earthlink.net

thanks
Thanks Heidi for pointing out this title. I am the review editor for the Children's Folklore Review (Children's Folklore SEction of the American Folklore Society) and it sounds perfect for inclusion. Gail

Shakespeare's Storybook
Hello all, I have just recently found your interesting discussion list. As a former children's bookseller, I was driven to immediately check out Barefooot Books. It is a really nicely designed and helpful site.

Once there, under the contact info, they tell how to join their mailing list. I have just finished trying (as a member of a children's book award committee) to contact publishers through their websites, and am amazed at how uninformative and unhelpful the largest publishers' sites tend to be. Give me people who love what they are doing! Jeanne
