Happy birthday, sweetling. You shall always be that twenty something year old who longed to be older. Bet you aren't adding 5-10 years to your age any more!

Re: birthdays
By all means, Happy Birthday! (For the record, was it the 2nd or 3rd? If it was the 2nd, you share it with my husband! Those Sagittarians. . . )

Re: Happy Birthday
Thanks, Charles and everyone! I had a nice day, even if I did have to spend the day moving every single book out of the Endicott Studio office (the floor is being painted), and you can imagine how many books I have in there. I'm a year older, and my back may never be the same....

Jane: you bet I'm not adding to my age anymore!

M. Pepper: it was the third.

Nalo: Welcome! Glad to see you here, no longer lurking! For those who may not know, I'd like to introduce Nalo Hopkinson, author of Brown Girl in the Ring and other fine novels, wonderful short stories such as "Riding the Red" (Black Swan, White Raven) and "Greedy Choke Puppy" (in the latest "Year's Best"), and editor of Whispers From the Cottonroot Tree: Carribean Fabulist Fiction.

Found the list by accident a couple of days ago. Didn't know it existed. Thanks for the intro, Terri.

Happy Late Bday
From me too. How aghast I was to realize I had emailed you on business-ish things, not knowing it was your birthday, yesterday.

Happy happy.

Re: Nalo!
*The* Nalo Hopkinson? Of "Midnight Robber" fame? That was required reading for one of my graduate classes--a fantastic book!

That's me. I'm glad that you liked it! Where was your class, and what was the course? I'm lackadaisically trying to keep track of where my work is being taught.

Midnight Robber
Nalo Hopkinson:

I teach Midnight Robber in an undergraduate literature class for third and fourth year art students. They love it. Just thought I'd let you know: you have many rabid fans here in Portland, Oregon! So exciting to see your name on the board.

Re: Nalo!
We read "Midnight Robber" for a science-fiction/fantasy literature course at Emerson College in Boston. It was one of the few books that I actually ended up buying instead of just checking it out at the library; with limited room in our apartment, few books make the "good enough to keep" list, but yours was certainly one of them!

So sorry to have been late! Most happy belated from me as well -- nasty old of the semester, making me neglect fun things! :-) Hope it was a marvelous day.

Thanks, Kate, -M. Pepper. I appreciate knowing it. And I feel a little guilty for having caused Terri's birthday greeting thread to split.

Re: Nalo!
Don't feel guilty...if this thread wanders into another discussion, then I can stop blushing.
