La Befana
I am looking for versions of this christo-pagan, Italian fairy tale about a witch/fairy who misses her chance to see and gift the "child of light" so travels each Epiphany Eve to deliver gifts to all the children, for any one (or all of them) might be the "child of light". Versions that emphasize the pagan roots of this story are preferred. If possible respond by midnight(EST), January 18, 2001.
Thanks, BJW

Re: La Befana
I don't have it on me right now, but Tomie de Paola has a version of the tale. (He wrote and illustrated the Strega Nona tales) I'll see what else I can find online.
