High-Tech Fairies...
A thread a while back considered the integration of technology into Fairy Tales. Well, while it's not a classic fairy tale per se, it certainly is a fairy story and an entertaining one, at that. "Artemis Fowl" has (according to CNN.Entertainment) "a plot the author, Eoin Colfer, has described as 'Die Hard' with fairies." The high-tech flavor of this book only adds to its sweetness.

Yes, it has a spot on the bestseller list, a movie deal in the works and a flashy cover, but still...

The Irish author doesn't disregard tradition, he simply builds on it in a sort of evolutionary way. Both language and content are amusing, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Has anyone else read this yet? Any thoughts?

I don't want to put out spoilers, But Fouly, the underappreciated techie centaur, is probably one of my favorite characters in the book.

Artemis Fowl
Donna,

I just started the book. I am getting to it late after procrastinating with my new job and such. So far, so good. I am recommending it to the kids in my library.

I'll be happy to discuss it once I am finished.
