EZboard
Hey there, board owner type person,
I don't know if you've been keeping up with events at ezboard, but
if not, you should check out the link at the top of the page about
the free version. I'm guessing, and this is just my guess, that
it will soon go the way of the dinosaur. Even if it manages to hang
on for a while, you are going to have to put up with Zedo ads (which
float on the screen the whole time, and, from what I understand,
cover the toolbar on your browser) and redirects (ooooh, those
are really annoying) in addition to more pop-ups and something called,
I think, big bang ads, but I don't know what they are.
Blue status has already been eliminated. All that's left are free and Gold. I don't know how much Gold would cost you. This is a fairly active board. I believe it's listed in your admin area. I believe I have it in mine (yeah, I run one of these things). Anyway, it's something that will, more than likely, affect this board at some point, and I'd hate to see it deleted. The ezboard owners say that they would give advanced warning, but, having dealt with them for a while, I'm not sure I believe them. Their answer, of course, is the Community Chest, which you seem to have hidden on this board. You don't seem to have an independent host for your page, so something like YaBB or Ikonboard is probably out of the question.
Now, please everyone, return to what you were doing and get back on topic. I just wanted to give a heads up, for I've been following this fairly closely, and it would be a cryin' shame if this board ceased to be.

Heidi, if you decide to subscribe to any of the packages, I'd be more than happy to chip in. I would hate to see our community go bye-bye. (I'm fried from work.) But seriously, let me know if you want any dues- I feel I owe them to be allowed to chatt with such fine people!

I have been watching the ads and issues with EZBoard myself. I actually tried to subscribe at the beginning of the summer, but the links were not working for me when I tried to upgrade to a gold community. I temporarily gave up until we started getting the "dating" banners the past few weeks. The buxom blondes were not my ideal for the board.
Hopefully the subscription will go through soon and we will all be ad free for at least a while.
This would also be a good time to make the announcement I made this time last year:
If you are a regular member of the board and want to be notified if we have a change in location, please send me a request to be added to my mailing list. Please do this even if you think I have your address. E-mails change all the time and it is always important to have the most current address. Send your requests to surlalune@aol.com. You do not need to post your e-mail here or you risk receiving spam. I do keep the mailing list private and will not share any address without your permission.
This will also help me update my new address book--I got a new computer which will be improving the speed it takes me to update and add to my site.
Also, if the board does disappear for more than a few days or forever off of EZBoard, I am dedicated to finding a new location for it. I will find one and I will place an announcement on the front page of my homesite, SurLaLune Fairy Tale pages.
Kerrie, thanks for offering to send funds towards the subscription. Right now, since it is relatively inexpensive, I do not need them. I just ask any and all to please continue to shop at Amazon by linking through my site or Endicott Studio. My site is supported by the money from Amazon sales. Endicott's funds go to charity and I choose to shop through Endicott for that reason. (Besides, I cannot shop through my own links and get credit.)

Board subscription
I would also be willing to chip in to any costs to keep the board running. I rarely comment but read it all the time and would miss it terribly.
