Need title to fairy tale
Hi! I can't find the title to a fairy tale about a guy playing ninepins with a bunch of elves/dwarves/assorted small hairy men and then falling asleep for a hundred years. Any help? Please send a message to novapony@lycos.com . Thanks!

Rip van Winkle?
I believe that you might be refering to the story of Rip van Winkle. It was written by Washington Irving sometime during the late 18th or early 19th century, if I'm not mistaken. There are also older fairy tales on the same theme from which he took his source material, but I'm afraid that I don't remember their titles - I'm away from my research materials right now. I hope that this helps in some small way.

Re: Rip van Winkle? and sorces
I know I read at least a couple last year that were Celtic in origin and had the rip van connection. Theres lots where musicians are taken in by fairys elfs etc and played for one night only to find out many [often a hundred] years had passed but the sleeping is less common.
I shall get back to you
