online texts on motherhood in fairy tales??
Hi everybody!
I am new on this board and I hope you can help me. For a short essay for university I need some secondary literature on the representation of mothers in fairy tales. As I won't have much time and many of the English texts take some time to get here to Germany, I would be very pleased if you can give me any hints of where to find texts on that topic in the net. Thank you!

motherhood
Boy, there is a lot in print. On-line is a little tougher. I don't know what you mean by "it takes time" to get to Germany, but you might start by checking out Terri Windling's Endicott Studio site

www.endicott-studio.com

It has essays although none specifically about this subject, but motherhood is discussed in several of the topics. It also has links to tales, art, other authors' websites and magazines.

Have you been to the host site to this one?

There are annotations to fairytales that might help you. I don't think the internet links are up yet.

This should get you started.

Re: motherhood
Thank you, that will help. You can of course find a lot of German texts here that are available at once. But in our library at university are hardly any English texts on that topic so I have to order them at another university and that will take some time. That is what I meant by "it will take some time to get to the texts" and as my essay will have to be in English I prefer English texts, because I don't know all those specific terms, not even the English names of all the fairy tale charakters. I hope I will find more texts when I follow the links on the sites you recommended. Thank you again.
