stepmothers in children's lit (good, bad or otherwise)
Dear all - this is a call for world-wide assistance. I'm in the prelimary stages of a dissertation on mothers/ stepmothers in children's lit, and am trying to compile as wide a list as possible of books/authors who have depicted a stepmother in a positive light.

I'd be grateful to know what you may have come across or written about (I know there are some authors here) that you feel may be of interest to study in this area.

As I'm just getting started on this aspect of my research, any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,
Posey

Neil Gaiman did a rewrite of Snow White called "Snow, Glass, Apples". It's written from the step mother's point of view.

You can read it here:

Hope this helps!

Tanith Lee did a similar one, with interesting Christian symbolisms. I don't remember the title of the story off-hand, but you can find it in _Red As Blood: Tales From the Sisters Grimmer_.

Jane & Heidi's "Mirror, Mirror" would be a good resource.
