Imaginary homes and workplaces
Here's a fun poll- if you could live and/or work in any imaginary place found in literature, art, or film (your own works included), where would it be?

Imaginary Places, Corner Office
Brigadoon. Right now I could use a couple centuries sleep, no problem.

Beauty ...
The library from McKinley's _Beauty_ ... all of the books that had ever been imagined ... [drools slightly] ...

Oooh. Speaking of libraries, if I were going to work in some imaginary place, it would have to be in Dream's library from Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" series! Lucien would be too cool as a co-worker!

Sandman...
Yeeessss!!! I almost named that one, but figured that the McKinley reference would be more recognizable ... similar ideas for wonderous places. Ahh, if only ...

Bilbo had it right
go to Rivendell, a classy Breadloaf for writers.

Rivendell would definately be one of my top choices.

Damar - of The Hero and the Crown and The Blue Sword - especially the Luthe's home in the hills.

Certainly the Beast's library (a la McKinnley), and also the library in Nix's Lireal - shaped like a shell and housing magic and spells and creatures as well as books.

I'd have to say I'd love to live in Midori's city of Labirinto! I've always loved maze and getting lost is half the fun! (Or, as Ben the gardener in the musical "Secret Garden" says, "Getting lost is how you learn.")

As for workplace, I'd have to say Wordwood in Charles de Lint's city of Newford. Working with words and research all day- heaven!

I've always loved the idea of living beneath the waves at the bottom of the sea in a city of huge glass bubbles a la Atlantis.

Having just re-read LOTR, the Shire also sounds nice, much more appealing than it did when I was a kid.

I don't know how much work I would get done in a place full of natural beauty, fortunately, I live in L.A. :P
