Pub Date for new Mirror, Mirror?
I am eagerly awaiting the new edition and wondered if the release date has been set. Kate, do you or anyone else here know when it is due out? I will spotlight it on the front of SurLaLune and can't wait to read the new essays. Have I ever described the thrill I had when I stumbled on the original in a most seredipitous experience at Borders in Knoxville? I was a poor student and bought it immediately in peril of my budget. Each book in my library invokes a strong memory of its acquisition, but this is one of the especially potent ones.

Thank you for asking! The bound galleys say that the pub date is July, 2002. I think that means the book will be in stores in mid-June. And I think you can preorder it now? I will check with my editor to be sure about all that.
And indeed, there are four beautiful new essays in it, from Midori Snyder (on "The Monkey Girl"), Terri Windling (on "Donkeyskin"), Ursula Le Guin (on "Sleeping Beauty") and Carole Maso (on "Twelve Dancing Princesses"). Would that I could have included twenty new essays, of course.
What a nice story about finding the first edition in Knoxville. I, too always remember where I found (or acquired) certain books, most recently, being handed a copy of the amazing ROSE, sitting with Charles and Karen Vess on the floor of a living room in Madison . . . oh my gosh, was that something! The book is propped up on my desk as I write this note.
