a suggested read
Hi Leah,
Have you read The Seer and the Sword by Victoria Hanley? If you do, let me know what you think ... I'm her publicist and I know she would be interested in what you have to say about it, considering your passion for this genre. (P.S. Did you notice the visitor who responded to your question about The White Deer is Jane Yolen? I'd bet THE Jane Yolen!)

Yes, it is the Jane Yolen, who has written many wonderful books you might be interested in.

Karen, I have read "The Seer and the Sword" and just saw the notice for "The Healer's Keep" for an October release. How does the new book relate to the first one? Is it a sequel with the same characters or set in the same universe with different characters? I have been recommending "Seer" to readers at the library--I am a librarian to support myself, this website is *just* my passion--and the cover art helps to sell it well to the fantasy readers. (The few who aren't begging for more vampire and horror books every time I turn around.)

I enjoyed "Seer." The portrayal of pacificism and war was especially interesting to read during this past year when the debates about such topics have hit closer to my home. None of the characters, excepting Vesputo, were black and white for good and evil. I appreciated the nuances that death and executions were not left for only the villainous characters to mete out or suffer from. I'm anticipating reading the next book when I finally get my hands on it!

I read the Seer and the Sword in one day and loved it! I can't wait for the sequel. Do you have any ideas of what it is going to me about?
