Help with children's fairy tale/Sir Hottentot
I'm looking for information on a children's fairytale/story from my childhood. (1970's) Some of the characters are Sir Hottentot and Sir Linkenlott and I seem to remember a cat that ate someone. In the end, a woodsman comes and cuts the cat open with his ax and the people jump out...the last page of the book shows the cat sitting there with 2 bandages across his tummy...Any help on this is most appreciated! It's been driving me CrAzY trying to think of the title for this story! (I know the story line is a bit bizarre also!) Thanks everyone!

Animals eating people...
I'm afraid I don't know your tale, but it does hold many similarities to Little Red Riding Hood...

A wolf eats the grandmother...
A woodsman cuts the wolf open with his axe...
to reveal the grandmother still alive...

I realise your tale is different but this was the best I could come up with!

Sir Hottentot
Weird! I remember this book, too. But sorry, I can't recall the title. Good luck!

Fat Cat
I believe you're thinking of Fat Cat. It's a Danish tale--best known in the picture book version by Jack Kent, but there's a fairly new version by Margaret Read MacDonald.
