Disney Movies vs. Original Fairy Tales
I am doing a big project on Disney Movies v. the original versions (eg. H.C. Anderson, Brothers Grimm), and the differences and similarities. I am also thinking about why these changes are made. If you have any opinions or information for me, please email me!!!!
Thanx so much!!!

Disney and fairy tales
Rose,

If you search the archives, you'll find a lot about what people here think of Disney and the Disney version of fairy tales. It is often a topic.

Also, I imagine you might know this but in case you don't, many of Grimms' stories are retold versions of much older tales. This is different from Andersen, who wrote many original fairy tales. We've often discussed here about how the Grimms edited their work, and some of these discussions also are in the archives.

Hope some of this helps.

Disney movies
Hello. Anna Altmann and I discuss several of the Disney movies in light of the more traditional tellings of the folktale in our books, New Tales for Old and Tales, then and Now. We include a fairly detailed look at Snow White and The Little Mermaid in particular but we also look at Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast. Gail

I think that's a good start! Don't forget to check Heidi's Modern Interpretations lists for the each of the fairy tales on her site!

Sugarplum dreams,
