Irwin Allen's 1985 2 part television event of Alice....
Hi. Does anybody remeber the 1985 CBS 2 part mini-series of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. It starred a plethora of famous actors and actresses including Sammy Davis Jr., Carol Channing, Telly Savalas, and Natalie Gregory as Alice. I thought that these were two of the best versions of an ALice story ever. The production was lavish and the costumes, sets and songs were great. The special effects were cool, but I was very scared of the Jabberwocky(STILL AM) I just won the set off of Ebay and I am anxious to hear more about it as I haven't seen it in close to 10 years. Any fond scenes or characters that you remember that you would like to share from this film.

Alice
Was that the one with Agnes Moorehead as the Red Queen?

alice...
Actually I'm not sure. It stars a slew of celebrities though and was made in 1985. There is a red queen in it as well as a white queen and the queen of hearts, very close to the original story. I don't believe that it is Agnes Moorehead though who plays the red queen, you may be thinking of another version. As there are many out there.

Re: alice...
No, Agnes Moorehead, who died in 1974, was not in this version which I have never seen, but it does appear to be a favorite among Alice fans. The screenplay was cowritten by Paul Zindel who has also written several young adult novels. You can read more about this version, including the list of actors, on IMDB at:

us.imdb.com/Title?0088693

Moorehead did appear in Alice Through the Looking Glass in 1966. Here is a link to more about that version:

Several versions of the 1985 movie are available on Amazon for under $20.00 on VHS. See here:

Love that movie
hey is that the version where the white knight sings a song to Alice and through out the film Alice wears a peach dress instead of a blue one like on the Disney movie, I have those recorded on video. I watched them all the time when I was younger and the jabberwocky freake dme out. I loved the owl too and the jam song;

Jam tomarrow
Jam yesterday
But never ever jam today

Oh you can wish if you want
You can want if you wish
But you'll never ever here me say

Jam tomorrow
Jam yesterday
But never ever jam today

Irwin allen's Alice...
Hi. Yup, that's the one, or two being that one was Alice in WOnderland and the other was Through the Looking Glass. I just won the set off of Ebay and I watched them. What a great way to reminisce about growing up. I remember the way I felt when I first saw them. I thought that they were lenghty but very fun and while the special f-x weren't anything special, they added to the fun. The costuming and the songs are superb as well as the sets. A very colorful movie. I can honestly say that I was scared when Alice opened the present on the table to find the Jabberwocky. I jumped back, althought I kind of expected it, I was still startled. A GREAT FILM!!!!! Everyone should see this film!A+

Irwin Allen's Alice
I agree that this is the best version so far! I remember watching it on TV when I was younger and loved it to death!

Poems...
This film ws very influential on my interest in poetry. Since most of the songs were taken/adapted from the poems in the original books, I used them for a poetry memorization exercise in 5th grade. The sing-song quality of them made them stick in my head, and I recited "The Walrus and the Carpenter" and "You Are Old, Father William" with ease. I must admit, though, I recited the adaptations and not the originals (I didn't realize until it was too late that there were stanzas missing from Father William). I think I got As for both, since they were so long, much longer than the requirement. My teacher was shocked I could remember so much!

Yes!!!!!!!!!
Yes Yes Yes!!!!!
I love those movies so much. I've never met anyone besides my family who has seen them. And I agree those are the best Alice adaptations out there. And for such an old movie and a tv movie at that I think the special effects are pretty good. Soooooooooo much better than the Pinnocio movie with Drew Carey as Gapetto. That frightened me a little. Especially since whats her name from Sienfeld was the blue fairy. So sad.
