The Morphology of the Folk Tale
I've just finished Propp's The Morphology of the Folktale. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on an English-language version of the fairy tales he analyzed? I was wondering how well the analysis went. (Especially since comparing the analysis of some Western tales revealed some gaping holes.)

Afanasev

Propp used Aleksandr Afanas'ev (a sort of Russian Grimms) collectiong of tales. Pantheon has done a nice edition of them translated by Norbert Guteman.

Pantheon's collection
Got it! (Didn't even have to buy or find it in the library, I just had to dig it up.)

Alas, doesn't have the numbering, but then, you can't have anything.

Some very familiar analogues, some unusual tales -- and some gaps in the analogue, such as no versions of "Rapunzel." That was one I thought didn't fit very well into the Morphology.

Afanasev "Daugther and Stepdaughter"
If anybody has an old Afanasev in Russian, I'd like a copy of the story which in Pantheon is titled "Daughter and Stepdaughter." It's a kind/unkind story, where the heroine plays blinldman's buff with a bear.
