Shifters oh mine!
I just realized that I did not introduce myself earlier - except to give my 'nick' and where I live offline.

Anyway, I am Blackwolf and I came across this board a few days ago. I was quite ecstatic to find writers whom I have always admired for a long time. For a dragon lover/fan like me, I was overjoyed to find Jane Yolen on the board too.

Furthermore, the discovery of the board came just in time when I was going through a period of rejuvenation and crossing over thresholds. Right now, I am returning back to writing and art, two things which have been like breathing and eating to me... but due to work committments and many other mundane things, I have chosen to push them aside. Now, I am coming back to it again and the discovery of this board, the discussion of fairy tales, felt like a much-welcomed boost.

My interests primarily lay in the areas of history and literature. I am also greatly fascinated with fairy tales and myths - and I am always eager to find common threads and themes in various cultures. I grew up in a Chinese household myself and my upbringing was interwoven with tales of shape-shifting fox and snake women, of dragons and of a colorful cosmology.

I like to look at motifs like shape-shifting and transformation. From human to animal or from animal to human. I am greatly drawn to therianthropic depictions: half-animal and half-human beings and characters. So, it's no wonder that I am interested in shamanism and animism as well. And for a person who does see herself as wolf sometimes, shape-shifting has been an ongoing current eversince childhood.

Looking forward to interesting discussions!
Blackwolf

Re: Shifters oh mine!
Glad to see your post here, Blackwolf. I think you will find, as I have, that there are some very learned folks here, who are published and not.
