Re: Gregory Frost reading at KGB this Wed. in NYC!
It's that "upcoming" thing I can't figure out.
The book came out December 1. But even Amazon seems to think it's still coming out soon now. I give up.

But y'all should go to hear Kate read. This is her first time at KGB, so it's going to be a treat.

When are we going to see/hear you in the Seattle area?
It seems like all the action takes place on the East coast. Sigh.

Virtuous ...
You guys are both way too modest and self-effacing! I'm looking forward to this *tremendously* (have been ever since I mentioned having missed Greg's reading at WisCon to someone at Tor and they told me about the plans for the reading back in ... summer? fall? at any rate, quite a while ago). See you both soon!

Best,
Helen

Upcoming?!
Oh, shoot. I noticed that long ago when I got this mailing, and should have taken it out when I posted it here. Come on, you're the treat! I'll just talk about, you know, shellacked frogs and things.

See everyone there who can make it--Helen, are you bringing some year-mates?

Re: Upcoming?!
And you think no one in the KGB audience wants to hear about shellacked frogs?

Re: Upcoming?!
I know that I, for one, am definitely looking forward to lacquered amphibians. I dunno about my year-mates, as yet (there's an oddly insular mindset among Columbians that seems to make NY's other neighborhoods almost anathema - I'm at a loss to explain it) but I'll certainly try.

Yours in Eager Anticipation,
Helen

What Midori said. Sometimes I wished I lived closer to New York. Or to anything, come to that. :\

Awed silence ...
Dear Kate and Greg:

I just wanted to tell you both how wonderful you were at KGB last night - between the noise of the crowd and my tendency to respond to greatness with blithering, I wasn't sure if it came through properly. Kate, your stories were touching and funny and amazing: Greg, even though I've read _Fitcher's Bride_ (a few times, actually), my heart was still pounding with tension during the scene. Thanks for letting us all listen, guys.

Best,
Helen

Fitcher's Bride and Amazon
Greg,

It does show that the book is scheduled to be published in December, but then asks if you want to "pre-order". I'll let you know if I get mine with the rest of my order in 7-10 days.

Follow up
Greg,

Your book has been shipped from Amazon. Thought you would want to know that their website and shipping ARE inconsistent.

Still waiting for Richard Park's book to be shipped - they said it WAS available. Sigh.

Re: Follow up
His book is available from the publisher directly if they fail you.

Helen, thanks for the kind words on the reading. I'm glad you enjoyed it. For anyone in/near Phiiladelphia, Kate will be reading as part of the Philadelphia Fantastic series here at the end of February.
Greg

not sure if this is the right place
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post how much I enjoyed Greg's Fitcher's Brides. He deftly balances the historical details of his setting with the fantastical, horrific story he tells, drawing the reader deep into the lives of three sisters. It is an almost impossible book to put down. It made me late for more meetings than I would like to admit and I didn't mind at all.
