Tithe ...
Dear All (Specifically Holly):

I finally had the free time and the funds to visit the local bookstore for recreational reasons, and happily picked up a copy of _Tithe_ when I saw it on the shelf. It's marvelous, evocative of a darker Emma Bull, while managing to be wholly original. Bravo, Holly!

Best,
Helen

I think my heart almost stopped in my chest when I logged on today and saw that subject line.

Re: Tithe
Just finished it last night... Engaging, colorful characters and a page-turning plot line that leads to a thoroughly delightful gem of a romp in and out of the faerie realm. The fairy tale elements are very well done (the lame laundress - a nice touch!) and the more "earthly" characters exhibit an honesty that is entirely refreshing. Plus, I love the cover! <grin>

Kudos Holly! I look forward to reading more...

Ooo. I was -just- thinking about that book, when I clicked and saw this thread. I've been after it since I read the review on greenmanreview.com; unfortunately, when I went to my local Barnes and Noble the fumble-fingered clerk checked the computer - then said the book and the author didn't exist. Will have to try Borders.

Well amazon has it and I think B&N can order the book. I know Media play does orders like that.

I would buy the book but Im sort of stuck reading online fiction till I can get funds. =P

The synopsis and reviews Ive read so far look tre-good.

Re: Tithe
Thanks Donna! I'm so happy you guys liked it!!

Jessica, the B&N by my house has it (without my harassing them) and I've seen it at a few others, so it should be in their system *somewhere,* but one never knows...

And it is on the front page of SurLaLune this month...

The rave reviews are helping it in the librarian circuit, too.

Congrats, Holly.

oh, the -author(ess)-!
Holly, (et al)

Honestly no idea what's wrong with the computers in this neck of the woods. The Barnes and Noble here still says you don't exist! Fortunately, the Borders did. *grin* I'm sure it's completely enjoyable--congratulations!

The Authoress, Herself
I met Holly at WFC and sweet-talked her into giving me a copy...
loved it.
It's a keeper.
Next my fifteen year old *may*, if he promises to wash his hands before reading, and use a bookmark, get to enjoy it.

I hope you like it. :)

I just got a very, very kind review from Charles de Lint and am beside myself with joy:

Tithe
Just wanted to tell you that the book is in the staff recommended reads at one of our independent book stores here in Edmonton, Alberta -- they made a lovely display for it -- and what do you know, it flew into my hands -- but then I was already looking for it. Congrats on the great review from Charles de Lint -- I take his recommendations seriously. Gail

Re: Tithe
Holly, congrats on the recommendation. The book sounds absolutely wonderful. I hope to read it as soon as finals and my 15-page paper on Pilgrim's Progress are finished. It has just moved to the top of my list of books to read as soon as I'm free of dead white Puritans.
(And can I just say: Yes! It snowed and classes were canceled!)

Yay!
Dear Holly:

Congratulations on the (well-deserved and entirely accurate) review. Charles de Lint is unspeakably brilliant - his imprimatur carries unbelievable weight. Sorry that I didn't get in touch after the SFWA thing ... I discovered that I have no long distance service. Very frustrating. Will get some soon (I hope). Again, congratulations!

Best,
Helen

Wow
Now I'm really looking forward to reading it! That's quite a review from the Dean of urban fantasy!

Cheers to "Upcoming Publications" thread and
to Amazon Wish List! :-) It's been terrific to be able to put so many of the things listed and written by people on this board on a central List and then be given them for birthdays and the like! What treats!

My latest treat being "Tithe" which I received for my birthday. I couldn't put it down despite a particularly heavy schedule with pending deadlines and class work. My biggest gripe is that I am now FINISHED and have to get back to work!

Late kudos to Holly.

Please make sure TITHE gets to the World Fantasy judges (of which I am one.)
