PLEASE HELP! I'm looking for the name to a story
Hey I'm looking for the name to an original fairy tale about a perfect girl wins loads of medals. She is then invited to the princes home where she is set upon by wild pigs. While hiding in a bush she shivers with fear, thus clinking her medals. This alerts the wild pigs to her and they pounce on her and kill her. Any help at all would be much appreciated as I read the story when i was about 14 and have been unable to locate it since.

Er.
I checked my easily-reachable books, and didn't find that story, but just to let you know, I've read it. I might be completely wrong, but in my mental files, it's associating with a collection of nineteenth-century morality stories-- the quote that comes to mind is Louisa May Alcott saying she wouldn't write stories where the main character is eaten by bears just because he wouldn't go to Sunday school. I don't know if it was published in a nineteenth-century collection, referred to in a book of them, or if I just thought of that quote when I read the story. Sorry--but I thought you might be encouraged to know the story definitely exists out there somewhere, and if it pops up in my head I'll drop you a note.

"The Story-teller"
I've been lurking for a long time on this list, but now I can't resist contributing, because I actually know the answer to this one. It's "The Story-teller" by Saki. The text is available several places on line. It's always been a favorite of mine (probably because I'm a storyteller).

Re: "The Story-teller"
Hey, thanks mmcphie for telling us the name.
As for the story, well... I was wishing the Wolf
went wandering off and just when she thought
she was safe, the Pigs ate her!
