Genealogical question ...
Was the German Fredreich de la Motte Fouque related to the French Marie-Catherine d'Aulnoy? If so, what a fascinating link between the fantastic traditions of the two nations. If not, what an interesting coincidence (apparently, her husband, the Baron d'Aulnoy's given name was Francois de la Motte). I can't seem to find any record of her having had a son, only daughters, so I doubt that he'd be a direct descendant (grandchild would fit chronologically, but only with some very odd naming conventions), but perhaps a more distant relation - or was de la Motte the 17th/18th century French equivalent of "Smith"?
