Little Match Seller
Looking for an annotated version of or any other background material to Andersen's tale. Anyone can help me? Rob van der Wildt, Antwerp, Belgium

Re: Little Match Seller
I *think* an annotated version of "The Little Match Girl" appears in THE ANNOTATED CLASSIC FAIRY TALES by Maria Tatar, a book much loved and discussed around here. I *think*. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is in The Annotated Classic Fairytales, and it is in The Classic Fairy Tales which is edited by Maria Tatar, too. The Classic Fairy Tale book has information about Andersen in it, too. Or at least I think it does...

For annotated HCA in print, I actually prefer the Frank's book:

The Stories of Hans Christian Andersen: A New Translation from the Danish
by H. C. Andersen, Diana Crone Frank, Jeffrey Frank, Vilhelm Pedersen, Lorenz Froelich, Diana Frank
