Arabian Nights
I'm looking for a really great edition of The Thousand and One Arabian Nights (kind of along the lines of Robert Fagels's translation of The Odyssey ). Anyone have recommendations?

Re: Arabian Nights
Hussein Haddawy's Modern Library Translation. It comes in two volumes, the first volume is in a very affordable paperback with an excellent introduction on the history of the texts and the history of its various translations.

Haddawy's translation are very readable and culturally astute.

Have a look at a wonderful article Gregory Frost wrote about the Arabian Nights

Re: Arabian Nights
Is Haddawy's translation illustrated?

Re: Arabian Nights
No illustrations...just the stories. (with some scholarly footnotes here and there)
