Re: Favorite Fairytale & Why
Snow White and Rose Red is a great tale, and whoever said it was underated was right - I'd never even heard about it until I came across the Surlalune site. There always seems, to me, to be a bit of a kink factor waiting to come out in it as well, with the sisters sharing 'everything' and there only being one real 'love interest' - the Princes brother was so tacked on :P

Snow White!
I'd have to go with Snow White. Really is a dark, sensual tale. I too am working on a screenplay for it, even done a little filming. It really is a hard tale to adapt. So much could be done with it. So many different routes it could take. It's neither drama or horror. It's a mix. The tale itself seems to have a happy ending, but when you think about what Snow White will have to deal with after the tale is over, it's quite scary. I rally am having a really hard time. Any help is always appreciated

THE BIRTH ORDER FACTOR?
There was an interesting pop psyc book out some years ago with a title something like THE BIRTH ORDER FACTOR. It was about what you were describing: the oldest child is raised by the parents, the youngest child is raised by the other children. (And by the time the youngest is growing up and the parents aren't having more, they relax and indulge him.) So the oldest got raised more strictly AND has the responsibility for taking care of the youngest. -- It fitted most of the families I knew.

Can I Help?
I read about your film in the making on a different board. I also read an excerpt of the script-I think it's really good! I would love to help you, as I am attempting several screenplays myself and might have some tips, but please keep in mind that I'm only fifteen and don't have a strong grasp of some of the technical aspects :) Anyway, I would love to help and am pleased to find someone who reveals the dark side of Snow White.
Good luck with your writing!

Thanks.
You sure can help. Email me at cmoore0013_at_aol.com. We can talk about how we each see a film version of it
