folklore about sailing to the moon
I've been trying to find an old story that my grandmother had told me when I was a child, about a man sailing to the moon. If anyone has heard of this, or any other similar story please let me know.

Thank you

Sounds a bit like one of the exploits of the Baron Munchausen. Wasn't he in a ship that got caught in a violent storm and tossed to the moon?

Re: sailing to the moon
I did run across this page:
www.presscom.co.uk/nursery/nurs4th.html
which lists a lot of classic children's rhymes. The one you're looking for could be #CCXXXVIII . #CCCCLVIII is a short one about a balloon going to the moon.

moon
I seem to remember one where some children sailed to the moon in their bed, although I do not remember what it is called...it was lovely though.

I think that's the poem you're thinking about - three little boys who sail the skies in a wooden shoe (their bed). You can find a copy here:

This is still one of my favorite poems.
