Hayao Miyazaki in The New Yorker
The Jan. 17th issue of The New Yorker has a fascinating article on Hayao Miyazaki, the writer and director of such folklore-rich films as “Spirited Away” and "Princess Mononoke".


The author of the article, Margaret Talbot, talks about Miyazaki in an on-line interview here:

Oh, wow -- I totally missed that. Sometimes my NEW YORKER gets drowed out by all the other magazines that come through my apartment. :)

I'd just like to point out that Miyazaki is the author and illustrator of a terrific series of graphic novels called NAUSICAA OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND. I didn't read them initially, because manga's usually not my scene, but then, they aren't really manga. They're especially impressive when you consider that Miyazaki did them all himself, with no assistants.
