Myth Book - author's name starts with V?
I am sorry to post such a pedestrian question, but I'm having a terrible time trying to recall a specific name, and google searches aren't helping. I am trying to remember the name of the (Russian?) author, I think it starts with a V, who wrote a book about myths which supposedly breaks down every fairy tale into its constituent parts.

My immediate hunch is that you're looking for Morphology of the Folktale by Vladimir Propp. Sound right?

Are you thinking of Vladimir Propp?
Morphology of the Folktale and Theory and History of Folklore are the two I have on my own shelf.

That's why librarians always make good friends. My family seems to enjoy having one in the family, at least.
