Card game
On a recent emergency mission to obtain a game of Scrabble (and let's not even go into how much your basic Scrabble game costs in London, what with the exchange rate and all, I found a card/story-telling game called Once Upon a Time. Basically, each player gets a set number of cards illustrating fairy-tale elements, including one ending card. The first player begins telling a story using elements from the cards in her hand, laying down a card when she uses it in the story. Other players can interrupt her if they have the right cards and take over the story. The first player to lay down all their cards and play their "happily ever after" ending card wins.

Of course, I automatically bought The Dark Tales expansion set along with it. Because if a fairy tale doesn't have stepmothers serving up kids in casseroles or man-eating trolls, I just don't see the point...

Re: Card game
Ooh! Ooh!! Must have. Must buy... (insert slathering sound effect here....)

Actually, this is wonderfully timely! My 9 yo nephew, who is oherwise all boy (as in, at the moment consumed by scatalogical humor and/or Star Wars) recently confessed a love of storytelling! We have plans underway to construct a story line-by-line together via email. This would be an absolutely ideal gift for his upcoming birthday!

Yeah, ok, or mine. :lol

Thanks for bringing this up!

Actually, a quick Google shows that it's available on Amazon.com

Re: Card game
Actually, I have the game and the expansion pack listed on SurLaLune with links to Amazon. See here: Fairy Tale Games.

I still want to try the Princess and the Pea game I have listed on the page, but have never gotten around to ordering it from anywhere.

I sometimes receive queries about The Enchanted Forest game by Ravensburger and it is also available through some stores like IQKids.com, but not through any Amazon retailers.

Re: Card game
Sorry Heidi--should've realized that you'd already had this listed! The game itself looks like it's American, so there shouldn't be any problem finding it.

It looks like Ravenburger's Enchanted Forest can be ordered here.
