Endicott Spring 2005 Issue...fashionably late but worth it
I can't tell you how delighted I am that the Surlalune board is still up and running! Especially as I am happy to announce Endicott's new Spring Issue of the Journal of Mythic Arts. The theme this issue is The Elements and we have articles and art to reflect the four elements: In the reading room there is a fabulous article by Ellen Steiber on The Lore of Gemstones, Heinz Insu Fenkl heats up with Fire and the Fire Bringers, Terri Windling has a revised article on Sacred Springs and Other Water Lore (with new art added!) and Kate Bernheimer has contributed a wonderful short story, My Shadow with art by Connie Toebe!

In the Gallery we have a group show of photographers and sculptors representing the four elements: James Graham, Rowan Gabrielle, Stu Jenks and Jackie Abey and Jill Smallcombe.

In the Crossroads, I have an article featuring the amazing interactive and multi-media work of web literary journal Born Magazine. Terrific and inspiring stuff.

In the Coffeehouse there are poems by Faye George, Mario Milosevic, Wendy McVicker, Carolyn Dunn, and Taiko Haessler.

But wait....there's more! We also now have three new prints available on the Friends page.

So stop by and have a look!

Re: endicott
Thanks so much.

I am hard at work working on the Summer Issue...due out mid July (before I head off to Sardinia). This issue will be on the idea of Mythic Patterns. We are featuring an article on traditional and contemporary Maori tattoos, the labyrinth, the pattern of triple Hares, and Tibetan folk opera known as Lhamo. There is fiction by Kim Antieau, some great poems (Irish poet Patrick Cotter, Nathalie Anderson, Bob Hicok and Mario Milosevic), and a wonderful gallery of mythic art by Welsh artist, Clive Hicks-Jenkins. I am also holding out for an article by Ter Ellingson, a terrific ethnomusicologist on Tibetan religious music as a mandala of sound. (though he's in Ghana right now and the logistics of sending material may prove a bit daunting! if not now, we'll publish it later. His work is brilliant and I hope to be able to include MP3's of some of the performances Ter taped.)
