Shadow puppets in Chicago
If any of you are in Chicago, you might want to check this out. My husband and I are planning on going. It sounds really cool.

shadow puppets
I just wanted to add here, I went to the 3D shadow puppet show last night and was entranced. Truely beautiful and fun. My main problem with it was that it was too short. I was just getting into it when it ended. They had live musicians there playing mostly east Asian instruments. My husband tells me that one of the men was someone we saw playing with a gamalon group last year. There was a wonderful scene where the alchemist stares down a feisy goat, with skeletons swirling all about our heads. The music had a very Native American feel complete with bird calls. Very interesting, all-in-all.

It appeared to be based on a Chinese legend but the man who was in charge was busy talking to people afterwards so I didn't have time to ask him. They are doing 5 more shows in the next week or so, so if you have a chance, its worth your while to come out. If you miss it this year though, they've been doing this for 10 years so there will always be another show next year.
