The Unlucky Princess?
can anyone enlightenen me as to if there is a fairy story by this tltle? I am wanting to find a copy of it. The story is about an unlucky sister of three siblings. She has been given bad luck and leaves the family home to enable her remaining two sisters to marry. A queen shelters her, and directs her to the mountians where she is given a new 'gift' from 'Moira'? Her bad luck is replaced and she is given a ball of silk. This ball of silk should only be replaced by something of the same weight. This happens to be a prince whom she marries.

The storyseems like a modern and ancient set of motifs woven together somehow... perhaps the one you heard is a modern retelling of an ancient legend/ myth. The Moirae (spelled many different ways) are also The Three Fates... representations of the Life Cycle: three females each governing: one of birth, one of life, one of the end of life....
I would research the Moirae and see if that doesnt lead you somewhere useful. The thing is, almost any path you take will bring you to the place you are seeking. Eventually.

Thank you cpe for your response! I did a search focusing on the word fate, as fate is the core of the story, something I had failed to take into account. The story I have been searching for isn't called The Unlucky Princess, it is called The Girl who changed her Fate and is of Greek origin.
