Elizabeth Pope's uncompleted stories
I read on another message board that Elizabeth Marie Pope (author of The Perilous Gard and The Sherwood Ring) had been working on two more books when she passed away in 1992. I don't know the original source of this information, and I wondered if anyone here knew anything about these possible works in progress.

Re: Elizabeth Pope's uncompleted stories
I can't say anything about the Pope books, but it's rare for any unfinished work to see the light of publication. For one thing, it depends upon the degree of completion. Many unfinished works are only a few chapters long, which hardly qualifies them as novels. Sometimes they're nothing more than some notes or an outline. Even an unfinished work has to be long enough to work with.

Then it depends upon the estate and what they wish to do with the work. Sometimes they release the material unfinished, but often they get someone to finish it. The Dark Tower by C.S. Lewis is an unfinished novel which was released with a number of short stories.

These stories could have been started at any time during the writer's life. There are many times one will start a novel and either abandon it or leave it for later. I have a few unfinished works which I intend to eventually complete. Though for the most part, unfinished novels tend to be only a few chapters long, since once one gets into the middle of a novel it's usually worthwhile finishing.
