Wiley and the Hairy Man?
Has anyone heard of an Alabama folk tale with the above title? I searched the SurLaLune pages, but I don't see it. Amazon lists a Sierra/Pinkney version, but says that it omits part of the story.

Alabama Folktale
A quick google turned these links up:

illustrator's account (with link to edition by Simon & Shuster Books for Young Readers): www.mollybang.com/wiley.html

see this listing for her book:
Bang, Molly.Wiley and the Hairy Man Aladdin Books ed. New York: Aladdin, 1987, c1976. Wiley outsmarts the very scary, Hairy man. An American folktale. From this bibliography site: falcon.jmu.edu/~ramseyil/mulafro.htm.

dramatic adaptation (many sites that discuss adapatations for children's theater):

Broken Link
BTW, the bibliography link will work if the end punctuation is removed...
