Help with a book series
www.srbook.com.tw/arb/25/...-37_b6.jpg

I've been searching for the chinese versions forever, and now I have found the English ones. I am looking for the Red Riding Hood book from this series, but I can't make out the line of text about the "Little Readers" line, so I can't figure out what the book series is called. Can anyone help me figure it out and maybe find some sites that have the series?

It's not much help, but...
This is all I could find. I'm not sure how useful it could be, since I can't read Chinese.

www.ansonbook.com.tw/deta...ookno=2101

All I can really say is that the series seems is simply "Fairy Tales for Little Readers", but this brought up very little on Google.com,

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Ah yes, that was one of the only sites I could find, but thank you anyway. I actually found some on some kind of Chinese Yahoo! auction site.

Does anyone know a place where I might find the Fantasy Land Fairy Tales: The Wolf and The Seven Little Kids book, or images from it or something? I believe Peter Haddock published it, but apparently it was not something that was really here in the US, since I can hardly find anything. I contacted the publishers about it, but all they said was "It is not on our site because we no longer publish that series. Sorry we could not be of more help."

I'm sorry for the late reply.
This was, once again, the best I could find.

search.ebay.com/search/se...category0=

There seems to be a few options on Ebay, which is better than nothing.

Oddly enough, I recently tried to write my own telling of The Wolf and The Seven Little Kids...

Well, I'm sort of a fan of books with anthro-wolf characters in them (depending on the artwork). The wolf from the Fantasy Land Fairy Tales book is probably one of my favorite illustrations ever. I've seen a couple of the pages because I met someone who had owned the book. However, they said the spine broke so they threw the book away, so I was never able to see all of it. I'd also like to find the Three Little Pigs book from the same series, that was I can see if it is the same book that one image I have came from.

Thanks for your help, btw.

I know how you feel.
I also am a fan of anthro-foxes. However, they tend to be quite rare.

As for helping with the books, don't mention it. It's a hobby of mine to find information and videos for rare children shows online, so findig books wasn't too hard. I only hope the link I gave will turn up something.

If you want, I could post the story excerpt I've written here. It only goes so far as the wolf leaving for town to come up with a disquise, however. It's part of a larger story of mine, which takes place in a fairytale crossover world, only without pop-culture references and bathroom humor.

Heh
A fellow anthro-fan eh? Well, I've found a very nice person named jesskat who owns thinks she owns both books I am looking for and is going to provide the images for me.

If you want to post your story, I will read it as soon as I get time.

BTW, Miles is the name of an old fox character of mine (go figure, I did love the Sonic games >>)

Oh yeah
Oh yeah, since you like Anthro-foxes, have you heard the story "Sly fox and red hen" (I think thats what it is called).

Here it is.
It's only a small excerpt, and references earlier events that I haven't even written yet, but here it is.

Seven sacrifices? What could that crazy sorcerer be cooking up this time?
Melissa the wolf pondered her assignment as she snuck her way through the forest off the main road. Usually, the moral ethics of her employers were seldom her concern, but when her contact happens to be a powerful and evil sorcerer, it was hard not to wonder the consequences of helping someone who could destroy the world behind your back.
Nah, at least the pay is good, and he’s probably all talk anyway...
Still, there was the fact that this was the third time she’d been sent to gather sacrifices for his spells, and having failed the first two times, she likely wouldn’t be spared after a third failure...
Finally putting those thoughts to rest, she made her way to the edge of the forest, and on the very edge was the house she had been told was her target; the home of Mrs. Goat. Her seven children would be the perfect sacrifices for his ultimate spell, for seven was one of the strongest numbers in magic!
The little house was far from town, but the sorcerer had specifically ordered not to make unnecessary contact with their mother. She wasn’t exactly sure why, and since she had to bring the “seven little brats” unharmed, that meant there would be no fun for her.

“Farewell, my children! I’m off to the market to buy groceries for dinner, so you be good now!”
Mrs. Goat’s musical voice rang out through the small house as her children stopped their playing to listen. She was just about to close the door, when another thought sprang to mind.
“Oh, and they say that outlaw Melissa has been spotted around these parts! She’s been charged for many crimes, mostly kidnapping, and the word is she’s working for some wizard who uses people as ingredients for his spells!”
The little goats shuddered as they heard this, but quieted down as their mother spoke up again.
“So keep the doors locked at all times, and when you hear someone knock, be sure to listen for the sound of my voice and check through the crack under the door for my hooves. Don’t let anyone in without either of these.”
The children stared for a moment, than the oldest spoke up, “Nah, no need to worry about us, we’ll keep the place locked down for ya!”
Mrs. Goat wasn’t very reassured by her children’s tone, but bid them another quick farewell before closing the door.
Then, giggling to themselves, the children brought out a long, rolled up sheet of paper and spread it out, revealing what appeared to be plans of some sort. They wanted to have some fun while she was away, and that wolf was going to be their playmate in a very fun game...

Melissa watched from behind a tree as Mrs. Goat left for town, leaving her children unprotected.
“Good, now all I’ve got to do is trick them into letting me in, and I’ll have them snatched up for that sorcerer faster than he can say ‘hocus pocus’!”
She snuck her way towards the house, being sure to avoid being in the window’s field of view; if this plan of hers was going to work, she’d have to make sure they didn’t see her coming.
“All right, here goes nothing...”

“Children, I’m home!” A rough voice called through the door.
Every kid in the house gathered by the front door, thoroughly skeptical of the voice they had heard; their mother hadn’t been gone but five minutes.
“Back so soon?” The youngest called back, “But isn’t it a long way to the market?”
“Oh, well...” The voice paused a moment to think of an answer, “My purse! I left my purse, and I came back to get it! So please, let me inside!”
The seven of them gave a knowing nod to each other and began to take their stations. As they did, the youngest spoke up again.
“What’s wrong with your voice? Why does it sound so rough?”
“Oh, that?” The voice was a little quicker to answer this time, “A cart passed by and kicked up a cloud of dust, and I’ve been a little hoarse ever since. Now will you please open the door?”
It would’ve almost been a good excuse, if it weren’t for the fact that they hadn’t heard a single cart traveling the road. The youngest decided to take one last precaution before letting their fun begin.
“Just a second, I need to undue the locks...”
As he walked up to the door with key in hoof, the youngest took one last glance under the doorframe; sure enough, instead of hooves, they were a pair of black-furred wolf paws strapped in heavy leather sandals.
With one last exchanging of nods, the youngest carefully pulled back the door, making sure to keep out of sight behind it. As soon as it was open Melissa leapt into the living room!
“Such foolishness!” She called as she brandished a rope, “Your mother never thought you to never open the door for strangers, eh?”
But where she expected to see the kids huddled together in fear, there wasn’t a single one in sight.
Than a battle cry sounded from above her, and she looked up just in time to see one of the little goats dropping a bucket from a bookcase, overturning on her head and spilling down scolding hot water! As she shrieked and staggered, two more children tightend a wire in her path, causing her to trip and fall backwards onto a field of jumping jacks strewn onto the floor. Scrambling to get back on her paws, she finally took off the bucket, only to see two more goats swing a third one right into her stomach! His tiny horns hit full force and sent her tumbling right out the door and into the dirt.
“Did you really think we’d be fooled by a lame trick like that?” The eldest declared, “Our mother has a soft voice and hooves! You come around here again, and we’ll turn you in for the reward!”
And with that, they slammed the door and locked it up, giggling to themselves all the while.
Melissa got up and brushed off her cloak, her pride hurt more than anything.
“Impudent brats...” She reached for her Wind Amulet, the same she’d used to destroy the pig’s houses last time, but realized it was futile.
That boy cracked it the last time...I doubt it will last another use. I better save it for an emergency...
The Wind Amulet was one of the elemental crystals that the sorcerer had made. Its power could create tornado gusts of wind, but after taking a bullet for her, it was unlikely to hold up if used again. It was a good thing she had hidden it from the sorcerer after her last failure, otherwise she wouldn’t have had a third chance.
“Still, at least they were foolish enough to reveal what gave me away. My voice and my feet? An easy enough problem to fix...”
And so she sped off the road into town, sure to find what she needed...

My main character, who doesn't appear here, is a boy armed with a pair of somewhat anachranistic "Marvels from the New World", which happen to be twin costume seven-shooter revolvers. His partner is my own take on the fox from Grimm's "The Fox and the Wolf", who in this story was young theif before joining the main character, and later gets her own pair of revolvers to fight along side of him.

By the way, if you get the images, could you upload them? From what I saw on eBay, the illustraintions look very nice.

As for "Sly Fox and Red Hen", it doesn't look like my type. I prefer ones where the fox is the good guy (or girl)...

Oh my...
Not only did I not capitalize my name, but I also made a serious typo. Read "costume seven-shooter" as "custom seven-shooter", and you should be fine.

I browsed through your story (too tired to read right now, lol), and it seems pretty good. I was never much of a writer myself (stupid senior portfolios >>). I already have some of the images from the "Wolf and the Seven Little Kids" book (thats how I found out about the series, I found the images on a site) as well as what I think is the wolf from the Three Little Pigs story. Um, if you know somewhere I can upload them, I will. Or I can link you to the site (do you have AIM/MSN, or are there PMs on this site?)

There's Photobucket...
photobucket.com/

That's the best I can think of.

I highly reccomend you read the whole excerpt when you get the chance, though. For one, I rarely can get feedback for my writing...

Well I have a photobucket account, but its sort of a public album, so I don't really want to have pics from children's fairy tale books in it, if you know what I mean. Like I said, if you have AIM/MSN or something I can show you a site (idk the rules about posting things here, so I don't want to chance it).

Oh, that...
Well, I don't use AIM or MSN, after a very bad experiance with both.

As for the site...what type is it? I could probably tell you if I knew the nature of it.

Well, it is a furry vore site. I really don't like vore, but the site has some good images of wolves and the admin is very nice.

Hmm...
Perhaps you could link to the images themselves? To do this, right-click on an image, select "Properties" from the menu that appears, than copy and past the link that's given.

Thats all of them with the wolf (except for one that is a close up of his stomach being sewn up). I really wish I could find the person who done the illustrations, because the artwork is so awesome IMO.

Impressive.
Hmm, the artstyle seems somewhat Japanese (noticable in the goat's eyes in the second image), and looks like it could have some straight out of an animated series.

Very, very nice. You wouldn't happen to know what other stories are covered in this series, would you?

Books
Well, I emailed the company that produced it (Peter Haddock), and they said they licensed it from Japan actually lol. I know there are:

Red Riding Hood
The Three Little Pigs
The Wolf and the Seven Kids
Pinnochio
Sleeping Beauty
Puss N Boots
Cinderella
Thumbelina
The Little Mermaid

I'm sure there are more, but I can't remember them off the top of my head (I like the way the fox looks from the Pinnochio story as well).

That explains it.
If only I knew the Japanese name for the series, than it would be easy to find...

On a side note, it would seem that there are at least 20 books in the series, as the auction seems to be selling 10 books for two different sets each.

Yeah, I wish I knew the japanese name too. I found pages from one of the Japanese prints of the books, but I couldn't find the cover, so idk what it says (or it might be Chinese).
