Song

The Mulberry Bush

[Available in Little Folk Visuals Nursery Rhymes Set #4 or the Complete Set.]

Here we go 'round the mulberry bush,
The mulberry bush, the mulberry bush.
Here we go 'round the mulberry bush,
So early in the morning.

This is the way we wash our clothes,
Wash our clothes, wash our clothes.
This is the way we wash our clothes,
So early Monday morning.

This is the way we iron our clothes,
Iron our clothes, iron our clothes.
This is the way we iron our clothes,
So early Tuesday morning.

This is the way we mend our clothes,
Mend our clothes, mend our clothes.
This is the way we mend our clothes,
So early Wednesday morning.

This is the way we sweep the floor,
Sweep the floor, sweep the floor.
This is the way we sweep the floor,
So early Thursday morning.

This is the way we scrub the floor,
Scrub the floor, scrub the floor.
This is the way we scrub the floor,
So early Friday morning.

This is the way we bake our bread,
Bake our bread, bake our bread.
This is the way we bake our bread,
So early Saturday morning.

This is the way we go to church,
Go to church, go to church.
This is the way we go to church,
So early Sunday morning.

Three Little Kittens

Three little kittens,
They lost their mittens,
And they began to cry,
Oh, mother dear,
We sadly fear
Our mittens we have lost.
What! Lost your mittens,
You naughty kittens!
Then you shall have no pie.
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.
You shall have no pie.

The three little kittens,
They found their mittens,
And they began to cry,
Oh, mother dear,
See here, see here,
Our mittens we have found.
What! Found your mittens,
You darling kittens!
Then you shall have some pie.
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.
You shall have some pie.

The three little kittens,
Put on their mittens,
And soon ate up the pie;
Oh, mother dear,
We greatly fear
Our mittens we have soiled.
What! Soiled your mittens,
You naughty kittens!
Then they began to sigh,
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.
They began to sigh.

The three little kittens,
They washed their mittens,
And hung them out to dry;
Oh mother dear,
Look here, look here,
Our mittens we have washed.
What! Washed your mittens,
You're such good kittens.
I smell a rat close by!
Hush! Hush! Hush! Hush!
Hush! Hush! Hush!
I smell a rat close by.

Ants in My Pants by Wendy Mould
Ants in My Pants
by Wendy Mould

Age Level: Toddler and up
Synopsis: Jacob would rather play with his trains than get dressed and go shopping. But when he reluctantly prepares to put on his pants, he finds they are full of ants! Much to his delight - and much to Mum's consternation - each ensuing piece of clothing contains a creature or two as well - a fox in his socks, geese in his fleece, kittens in his mittens, and so on . . . and it seems as though Jacob will never be fully dressed. But then the promise of newly fallen snow tempts him outside, and Mum gets a surprise of her own when she goes to put on her hat. Genuine toddler humor and simple rhymes guarantee that this lively tale will be a hit, especially with young children still refining their dressing skills.

On Top of Old Smokey

On top of Old Smokey
All covered with dirt
I lost my suspenders
My socks and my shirt

I lost my umbrella
I lost my pet frog
My food in my lunch box
Got ate by a dog

I lost my left sneaker
My hat and my comb
I lost my new toothbrush
I lost my way home

I found my way home then
I did sure enough
And I found my mommy
With all of my stuff
Yes I did (with all of my stuff!)
